Week 4 Virtual Penpals and Google Maps Lesson Plan

Hello, I'm not sure if anyone has looked ahead at this week yet and what we have to do as a group but, I've looked ahead and thought of some ideas and wanted to share the. The first thing we need to do together will be deciding what type of assignment we would do with our class ( that directly relates to our Project-based Learning topic-Staying Healthy/Healthy habits) to demonstrate cultural understanding and global awareness. We will need write up an informal lesson plan. Examples might be having students in your class and in a class from a different place compare and contrast differences and similarities between their regions as they relate to the content of their projects (i.e. different/similar vegetables, birds, weather, etc.) We have a form to follow for our lesson plan which is the (Template for Virtual Penpal lesson plan). Only one person from the group needs to upload it to the dropbox by sunday at midnight. I have some ideas I wanted to share, I was thinking for our location, to choose a completely different cultural then the United States, maybe India. Women are not allowed to be  as independent as we are here in the United States we may want to address what healthy snacks they eat and meals they prepare, along the fitness component we could focus on are they allowed separate times for themselves to attend or participate in gyms or yoga. Or we could focus on fitness clothing where people in India may have to have their arms and face covered as part as their culture. In the United States women often wear just a tank/sports bra and shorts. Let me know your ideas and what you think, these are just some of my ideas.

Once we've done that the second thing we need to do is create a map in Google Maps.
The map need to be related to our Virtual Penpals assignment. The google map will then need to be
put into/attached into our blog with an explanation about the map.

Week of 1/21/19 Evaluating Websites

Hey guys, this week we do not have a group assignment that we have to all work together on. However, we do have to communicate on what websites we each want to evaluate. We all have to do three different websites. I was thinking the websites we should be looking for are certain ones that have to do with fitness and health/healthy activities something along those lines. I feel like there's a lot of different things we could be looking for so if you guys have suggestions on what kind of websites to be looking for, feel free to share/comment. I haven't found my three websites yet but I will start looking tonight and everyone else can post theres, so we all know what websites people are going to be using and don't end up picking the same ones.

The concept map is a good start. You need to remember that at the end of the project, you will be presenting to family, friends and community members. You will have to decide how the students will present and learn about that. Students will also need to invite family, friends, and community members so students will need to learn how to create invitations, posters, flyers, etc. Sharon Peterson

How to Practice Healthy Habits

Okay from reading her email and looking at her example again, I came up with this which is just a condensed version of everything that we have. I will be emailing this to our professor just to make sure that this is more of what she is looking for. I know things can be added but I also don't want it to be overwhelming so I did some brief topics so it can cover more. I believe that this is the layout that she wants. I will let you all know what she says! Megan Southland

Updated Concept Map

Concept Map on Physical Health

Okay so I just went ahead and made one on physical health just so we have somewhere to start so we can knock this out.  I feel like physical health might be a bit easier to cover more concepts but if someone would rather do mental health, it takes 10 min to make another one so no big deal.  Feel free to comment additional components to add! -Morgan Klabunde

Concept map

Okay so just to be safe Morgan, I made one that went in depth of one the options. I went on the other groups blogs and it all varied but I did see more in depth maps of what they chose to do. Let me know if this is what you guys were thinking. Megan Southland

Concept Map

Hey guys, I don't know if this is what is expected or not?  This was what I took away from the description.  I didn't know if "staying healthy" goes in the middle the way I have it or if we pick a topic within "staying healthy" such as mental health and that goes in the middle.  Let me know what you guys think if it needs to be changed or if you guys have anything to add!

Concept Map

Hey guys, Ive been looking ahead on the concept map and trying to think about a Big Project we can do. Also we need to chose a software program either Inspiration, Kidspiration, Bubbl.us or Webspiration. Bubb.us is free. The other ones I think are a 30 day trail. I think anyone we chose will be fine. Maybe everyone in the group can look at the options and we can decide together on which software we want to use and then we can talk about our Big Project. Everyone can comment which software they want to use and we can go from there. I'm going to post this on the discussion and on the blogger so people can see it both places.
